62-Year-Old Man Killed in Sedan vs Pedestrian Collision near Kasota Road

APPLE VALLEY, CA (January 29, 2024) – Sunday morning, a man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Highway 18.

Deputies responded to the scene around 6:20 a.m., along the eastbound lanes of the highway near Kasota Road. 

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a man suffering from serious injuries. Medics took the 62-year-old man to a nearby hospital where he later died. 

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Division has not yet identified the deceased victim.

Based on reports, the driver of an eastbound silver 2020 Toyota Corolla was traveling in the No.1 lane and hit the pedestrian. Upon impact, the 29-year-old driver from Apple Valley stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team is currently leading the investigation. Officials closed the eastbound Highway 18 between Kasota and Corwin for three hours as crews cleared the scene.
