Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Olive Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 16, 2024) – Tuesday evening, one male victim was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Highway 99.
First responders arrived on the northbound lanes of the freeway, around 6:35 p.m., just north of Olive Drive on January 2nd.
Police say the driver of a vehicle struck a man who was walking along the No. 2 traffic lane. Upon impact, the man was pushed into a second vehicle, before he was run over by a third car.
The driver of the first vehicle then fled the scene northbound without contacting police.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.
Further investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol, and witnesses are encouraged to call them at 661-396-6600. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal pedestrian collision on Highway 99.
