59-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Collision near Farm to Market Road 465

CIBOLO, TX (January 9, 2024) – Monday evening, a semi-truck accident on Interstate 10 claimed the life of Paul Anthony Briggs.

Police responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Farm to Market Road 465 on January 1st.

For reasons under investigation, Briggs lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the center median. He then veered back into the lanes where he overcorrected and ended up in the outside lane.

There, the driver of an oncoming 19-wheeler was unable to stop in time and hit the vehicle driven by Briggs. Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced 59-year-old Briggs of West Columbia, Texas dead at the scene.

Authorities blocked all eastbound lanes before they was later reopened on Tuesday morning, January 2nd.

Following preliminary duties, police ruled out intoxication as a potential factor of the incident, and the crash is currently under active investigation. Once available, further details will be provided.
