Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Highway 49 [Auburn, CA]
26-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Bell Road
AUBURN, CA (January 25, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, one man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 49.
The incident occurred around 1:13 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near Bell Road. Per reports, the driver of a sedan was heading south and struck a male pedestrian.
Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Auburn officials only described the deceased victim as a 26-year-old man. The Place County coroner will release the identity of the deceased victim once the next of kin has been notified.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more information will be released about the fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 49.
