41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Thomas Road

PHOENIX, AZ (January 9, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, Jose Gomez was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on 55th Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 5:00 a.m., near Thomas Road on January 4th.

Per reports, the driver of an eastbound vehicle struck Gomez as he was crossing the road mid-block. Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Medics arrived and pronounced 41-year-old Gomez dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, officers did not suspect impairment as a factor. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
