Passenger Dies after Vehicle Collided with School Bus near Northeast Third Street

RENTON, WA (January 16, 2024) – On Tuesday afternoon, a suspected DUI crash near Bronson Way Northeast left one fatality.

According to the Renton Police Department, the incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m., December 19th, involving a Chevy Cavalier and a school bus.

Furthermore, the Chevy was traveling downhill at high speeds and the driver failed to control the vehicle. As a result, the Chevy collided with the school bus resulting in a major wreck.

Unfortunately, the front passenger of the Chevy died at the scene while the driver and another passenger suffered major injuries.

Responding paramedics transported both to Valley Regional Medical Center together with the driver of the bus. Luckily, no occupant of the bus suffered injuries.

Consequently, the authorities determined that the Chevy driver was impaired, and he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Meanwhile, the troopers blocked Northeast Third Street between Bronson Way Northeast and Edmonds Avenue Northeast following the incident.

It has been reopened since, and further investigation is still ongoing at this time.
