Driver Found Unresponsive after a Fiery Crash near the Anthem Way

PHOENIX, AZ (January 23, 2024) – On Wednesday afternoon, police were called to a fiery car accident on Interstate 17.

The incident happened on December 20th just after 3:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Anthem Way.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fiery collision involved at least four vehicles. Upon responding to the scene, the troopers found one driver unresponsive with serious injuries.

Furthermore, no other injuries were reported and the troopers blocked all northbound lanes, and motorists were directed to the exit at or before Daisy Mountain Drive.

Moreover, the report stated that a fire broke out on one of the vehicles, and smoke went into the southbound lanes. Luckily, no closures on the southbound lanes were prompted.

It was reopened after the clearing operations and authorities are conducting additional investigation. An update will be released once information is available.
