26-Year-Old Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Southern Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (January 2, 2024) – Late Tuesday evening, Michael Ochoa was killed in a pedestrian collision on 47th Street.

Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly before 10:00 p.m., near Southern Avenue on December 19th.

Per reports, the driver of a vehicle struck 26-year-old Ochoa as he was walking on the highway outside of a marked crosswalk. Paramedics transported Ochoa to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was evaluated by responding troopers. Police say that the driver displayed no signs of impairment.

No additional information was added at this time, and the incident is still under active investigation.
