Enma Calbillo Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run on Date Palm Drive [Cathedral City, CA]
21-Year-Old Woman Arrested after Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Near Varner Road
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (January 3, 2024) – Late Sunday evening, Enma Calbillo died in a multi-vehicle collision on Date Palm Drive.
Police responded to the incident around 11:22 p.m. on Christmas Eve in the area of Date Palm Dr, just south of Varner Road.
Upon arrival, the officers learned that a car made an unsafe turn into the southbound lanes and crashed into two other vehicles. The driver then fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
Tragically, the first responder declared one of the drivers dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner later identified the deceased victim as 48-year-old Enma Calbillo.
Following the collision, the police managed to apprehend the hit-and-run suspect a short while later. 21-year-old Angel Gabriel Torres Hernandez is currently facing multiple charges including DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Officials booked Hernandez to John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio with bail set to $75,000.
