EL PASO, TX (December 28, 2023) – Saturday, Perla Vasquez was killed and Saul Sigala Jr., and Donovan Sigala were hurt in a hit-and-run.
Officers responded to the scene on Interstate 10 on December 16th, after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
Per reports, a Dodge Charger was stopped in the center median to change a flat tire. Shortly after, the driver of a 2015 Ford Mustang swerved left to avoid striking a 2010 Acura that slowed to warn other drivers about the collision.
However, the Ford then struck the Dodge and three nearby pedestrians before veering back onto the lanes and striking a Volkswagen Jetta.
The Ford and the Volkswagen then became disabled at the Porfirio Diaz overpass. The Ford driver fled the scene by foot, and no information about the suspect is available at this time.
Authorities later pronounced 38-year-old Vasquez dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, responding paramedics transported 21-year-old Saul Sigala Jr. and 15-year-old Donovan Sigala to UMC for serious leg injuries.
