53-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Auto Accident near Glen Rose
SOMERVELL COUNTY, TX (December 27, 2023) – Wednesday, Sergeant Stephen Gibson was killed in a speeding collision on State Highway 144.
Officers responded to the scene around 6:45 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Glen Rose on December 13th.
Per reports, the 16-year-old male driver of a Ford F-150 pickup-truck lost control and veered into the northbound lanes. There, the Ford collided head-on with a police-vehicle driven by 53-year-old Gibson.
Officers say Gibson was heading north while the Ford was heading south at a high rate of speed. Moreover, authorities stated that 25-year-old Sergeant Gibson was on-duty at that time.
In addition, investigators say the roadway was wet due to the rain. The teen driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. At this time, it was unknown if charges were filed against the teen driver.
