44-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Accident near Rutherford Lane

AUSTIN, TX (December 26, 2023) – Sara Jo Gamond died early Saturday, in a semi-truck collision on Interstate 35.

Authorities responded to the scene around 5:50 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Rutherford Lane on December 9th.

Officers say 44-year-old Gamond was driving a pickup-truck and collided with an 18-wheeler truck. However, further events leading up to the incident remain unclear.

Medical responders later pronounced 44-year-old Gamond dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained.

During cleanup and preliminary duties, crews blocked off the northbound lanes for a brief time. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
