Driver Dies in Semi-Truck Collision on State Route 49 [Green Valley, CA]
61-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Traffic Accident near McKnight Way
GREEN VALLEY, CA (December 28, 2023) – Early Friday evening, one driver died in a semi-truck collision on State Route 49.
Officers responded to the scene just before 5:50 p.m., just north of McKnight Way on December 15th.
According to the CHP, the collision involved a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek driven by a 61-year-old man and a 2012 Freightliner.
Investigation showed that the Freightliner was driving slowly due to an initial crash that happened on State Route 49 and Smith Road.
Furthermore, the Subaru crashed into the rear of the Freightliner causing the driver to suffer serious injuries.
Consequently, the authorities transported the man to the hospital to undergo surgery. Sadly, on Saturday morning, he passed away.
Moreover, the authorities stated that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt during the incident and that alcohol was suspected.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner did not obtain any injuries from the collision, and no arrests were made.
Further investigation is still being conducted by the authorities, and the identity of the deceased was not released.
