Man Pronounced Dead following Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 805 [San Diego, CA]
Auto-Pedestrian Collision near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Resulted in Fatality
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 13, 2023) – One person was killed by two vehicles in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 805 early Monday morning.
The fatal collision occurred around 4:35 p.m. along the northbound lanes of the freeway, just south of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
According to CHP, a Mazda CX-5 SUV attempted to avoid the pedestrian but failed, hitting the man with the front end of the vehicle.
Subsequently, the male pedestrian was also struck by a silver Lexus IS250 in the traffic lanes.
Responding emergency personnel declared the victim dead at the scene. However, his identity remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old female Mazda driver and the 50-year-old male Lexus driver stayed at the site of the incident.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision. The CHP continues to investigate the fatal Interstate 805 pedestrian crash.
