74-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Henderson

RUSK COUNTY, TX (December 13, 2023) – Friday, James Pinkerton died Charles Hebert was hurt in a tractor-trailer crash on U.S. Highway 79.

The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m., about four miles outside of Henderson on December 1st.

Per reports, a 2014 Wester Star Truck towing a trailer was heading southwest while Pinkerton was traveling behind him. The truck driver then made a U-turn when Pinkerton, driving a 2002 Toyota Echo, collided with the trailer.

The Toyota then veered off the road and struck a culvert. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 74-year-old Pinkerton deceased.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported his passenger, 79-year-old Herbert to UT Health for further treatment.

In addition, the driver of the tractor remained uninjured. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
