17-Year-Old Girl Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Shelton Road
RIO VISTA, CA (December 4, 2023) – Early Wednesday afternoon, Lilly Butler was killed in a head-on crash on Highway 26.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m., near Sheldon Road in an unincorporated part of Valley Springs.
Per reports, the male driver of a vehicle attempted to pass slow westbound traffic by using eastbound lanes. There, the driver struck an oncoming vehicle head-on, driven by 17-year-old Butler.
Medical personnel later pronounced Butler dead at the scene, due to the extent of her condition. Butler was a senior at Calaveras High School and the daughter of the Rio Vista Fire Department member, Joe Butler.
The male driver, only identified as a 61-year-old Valley Springs man, received significant injuries.
