SUV/Pedestrian Crash in Harlingen Kills 22-Year-Old Man
HARLINGEN, TX (November 30, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a pedestrian-auto collision on Ed Carey Drive claimed the life of Marcus Jose Vigil.
Police responded to the fatal crash around 4:32 a.m. at the 1500 block of North Ed Carey Drive.
Upon arrival, they discovered the male pedestrian lying along the roadway with a white SUV on the side.
According to the investigators, a northbound SUV hit the man for reasons under investigation. Police said the driver immediately pulled over and contacted emergency dispatch.
Unfortunately, the responding emergency personnel declared 22-year-old Marcus Jose Vigil dead at the scene. Moreover, a portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties but has since been reopened to the public.
At this time, the Harlingen Highway Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities will post additional information as it becomes available to the public.
