Elderly Woman Pronounced Dead after Car Collision near Torrance Boulevard

TORRANCE, CA (November 30, 2023) – An 89-year-old woman died Friday afternoon in a 2-car accident on Anza Avenue.

Police responded to the scene around 3:50 p.m., at the intersection of Anza Avenue and Torrance Boulevard.

Officers say the driver of a 2020 Dodge Charger crashed into a 2003 Toyota Echo for reasons under investigation. First responders extricated the 89-year-old female Toyota driver and transported her to a hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel later pronounced the woman dead. Although, authorities have not yet released her identity.

Police said the 24-year-old man driving the Charger remained uninjured. Investigators do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the collision. 

Torrance Officials closed Anza Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and Lenore Street for investigation. Those with further information regarding the two-vehicle crash are encouraged to contact the department’s traffic division at 310-618-5557.
