Three People Died in Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 82
LOVINGTON, NM (November 13, 2023) – Early Friday morning, Miguel Angel Delacruz, Emigdio Montano, and one other person lost their lives in a deadly crash.
On October 27th, in the early morning hours, officers responded to a reported deadly car accident along the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 82.
Furthermore, the investigation showed that a passenger vehicle was driven by 24-year-old Delacruz with a passenger headed eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Meanwhile, a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 74-year-old Montano also headed westbound. As a result, Delacruz collided head-on with Montano.
Unfortunately, the collision resulted in the death of Delacruz and his passenger, and Montano. Also, a passenger of Montano suffered injuries, and paramedics immediately transported him to the hospital.
Both directions of the roadway were briefly shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the Highway has since been reopened.
Moreover, the authorities stated that alcohol did not play a role in the incident but seatbelts were not worn correctly.
