Jessica Velasco Injured, 2 Killed in Head-On Collision near Hitchcock Road
SALINAS, CA (November 7, 2023) – Late Tuesday night, Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno and Jose-Mendoza-Menjivar died in a head-on crash.
Police received calls in the area around 11:52 p.m., near Hitchcock Road on October 31st.
Officers say the driver of a 2001 maroon Chrysler Sebring was heading east on the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2021 Honda Civic.
Due to the impact of the collision, both drivers sustained fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed a female Honda passenger – identified as 21-year-old Jessica Velasco of Salinas – to a hospital for moderate injuries.
Police later identified the deceased Chrysler driver as 30-year-old Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno of Marina. The Civic driver was also identified as 21-year-old Jose-Mendoza-Menjivar of Salinas.
Salinas Officials closed down Blanco Road in both directions for three hours as crews cleared the scene. At this time, the Califonia Highway Patrol is working to determine if drugs and alcohol played a role in the incident.
