Pedestrian Killed by On-Duty Officer on SR 86

PIMA COUNTY, AZ (November 1, 2023) – On Saturday afternoon, Deputy Matthew Horrigan struck and killed a pedestrian in an accident.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m., October 14th, in the area of State Route 86.

Investigation showed that Officer Horrigan was on his way to Ajo District while on duty, and riding a police vehicle when he struck a pedestrian lying on the roadway for unknown reasons.

Furthermore, the pedestrian was identified as wearing a dark colored clothing. Moreover, Officer Horrigan remained at the scene, and he did not suffer any injuries.

At this time, the identity of the pedestrian was not yet released by the authorities, and the Tohono O’odham Traffic Unit is conducting further investigation.
