42-Year-Old Male Driver Killed in Head-On Big-Rig Accident near Panama Lane
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 27, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, one man was killed in a head-on semi-truck crash on Highway 43.
Police officers responded to the scene around 12:15 p.m., just north of Panama Lane on October 25th.
Per reports, the driver of a southbound Kia Soul veered into the northbound lanes in front of an oncoming Freightliner. Upon impact, the Kia spun out on the west shoulder where it rolled on its side.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 42-year-old male driver of the Kia, from Bakersfield dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver, a 32-year-old man from Delano, sustained minor injuries.
Caltrans temporarily closed down Highway 43 between the north of Panama Lane and the State Route 58 junction for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Those with additional information regarding the fatal head-on crash can contact the CHP Buttonwillow at 661-764-5580.
