78-Year-Old Murrieta Man Dead in Solo-Vehicle Accident Near Grand Avenue

LAKE ELSINORE, CA (October 24, 2023) – On Saturday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash along Ortega Highway claimed the life of Charles Landreth.

Officials received reports of the incident around 1:30 p.m. on Ortega Highway, 1.4 miles west of Grand Avenue. 

Based on the initial investigation, a biker riding a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 lost control while going eastbound along the highway. Police said the rider entered a sweeping pathway to the left and failed to make the turn. 

Subsequently, the rider crashed into a metal guardrail on the south side of the road, ejecting him in the process.

Responding emergency personnel declared 78-year-old Charles Landreth of Murrieta dead at the scene. 

At this time, the California Highway Patrol is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact the CHP, Temecula Area office at 951-466-4300.
