Two-Vehicle Crash near Silva Valley Parkway Kills 55-Year-Old Sacramento Man
EL DORADO HILLS, CA (October 12, 2023) – Monday evening, a fiery collision on Highway 50 involving an RV took the life of Eric West.
Police responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m. along the westbound lanes of the freeway, near Silva Valley Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a 1990 Mallard Motorhome overturned for unknown reasons and collided with a 1999 Ford Expedition.
As a result, the Ford also overturned while the RV caught on fire that spread across the nearby vegetation.
Responding firefighters from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department arrived a short while later and extinguished the flames.
Paramedics declared the Ford driver, 55-year-old Eric West of Sacramento, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a Ford passenger and the driver of the motorhome were rushed to UC Davis Medical Center.
Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
According to spokesperson Officer Andrew Brown, the Califonia Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the fiery crash.
