Man Killed, Woman Injured after Pursuit Ends in Crash near State Street
SOUTH GATE, CA (October 12, 2023) – Monday afternoon, Jose Mauricio Ochoa Jr. was killed and a woman was injured following a stolen vehicle crash on Southern Avenue.
Initially, the LA County Sheriff’s Department deputies started pursuing a reportedly stolen Range Rover in East Los Angeles.
Around 3:30 p.m., the stolen vehicle driver crashed into multiple vehicles near Southern Avenue and State Street.
Tragically, a man driving a Nissan Sentra sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, a woman inside a Toyota 4Runner sustained minor injuries upon impact.
Police arrested one of the suspects inside the Range Rover. However, deputies are still searching for two other suspects.
Later, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the deceased Nissan driver as 34-year-old Jose Mauricio Ochoa Jr.
