58-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Crash near Edom

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (October 12, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Roy Lewis Woods was killed in a motorcycle accident on FM 279.

The incident occurred around 4:32 p.m., near about three miles west of Edom on September 23rd.

According to reports, the rider of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading west while a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound. On a curve, the motorcycle rider failed to decrease speed and crashed into the Ford.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced 58-year-old Woods dead.

Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
