57-Year-Old Man Killed in Motorcycle Collision near Pistol Hill Road

VAIL, AZ (October 6, 2023) – Saturday night, Raymond Smith was fatally struck in a motorcycle accident on Old Spanish Trail Road.

Around 7:45 p.m., officers arrived to the scene just west of Pistol Hill Road.

For reasons under investigation, Smith was riding a motorcycle west on the eastbound lanes. There, he collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle near Pistol Hill.

Paramedics arrived and transported 57-year-old Smith to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Moreover, medics took the driver to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Although, police have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
