16-Year-Old Boy Pronounced Dead after Bicycle crash near Driver Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 5, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a 16-year-old boy was killed in a bicycle accident on Cecil Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene around 7:36 p.m., just east of Driver Road on September 30th.

Per reports, the driver of a westbound 2019 Ford rear-ended a bicyclist for reasons unknown. Upon impact, the cyclist was ejected from the bike onto the road.

The driver continued traveling northwest before crashing into a wooden telephone pole and coming to a stop in a nearby dirt field.

First responders declared the 16-year-old boy riding the bicycle dead at the scene. However, his identity remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

Paramedics transported the 17-year-old Ford driver to Delano Regional Medical Center after complaints of pain. The 18-year-old passenger inside the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
