20-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Dies after Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident near Buckeye Road
PHOENIX, AZ (September 27, 2023) – On Thursday evening, police responded to a hit-and-run crash that killed Leandro Cortez.
The incident happened on September 21st around 7:30 p.m. near the area of 7th Street and Buckeye Road.
According to the Phoenix police, they arrived at the scene where they found 20-year-old Leandro Cortez lying on the roadway with significant injuries.
Furthermore, the paramedics performed life-saving efforts to Cortez but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon investigation, the officers learned that Cortez crossed mid-block along 7th Street when he was struck by a passing vehicle headed northbound. The vehicle immediately drove off upon hitting Cortez.
