Serious Injuries Reported after Head-On Collision near Pioneer Bridge

SACRAMENTO, CA (September 25, 2023) – Early Friday morning, a DUI crash on Highway 50 in Sacramento sent one person to a hospital. 

The collision occurred around 3:00 a.m. near the Pioneer Bridge, between 5th Street and 15th Street.

According to reports, a Nissan SUV was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50. There, the Nissan collided head-on with a Honda sedan that was traveling east. The impact of the collision caused the occupants of both cars to sustain major injuries.

Emergency crews arrived at the site of the collision shortly after. After initial assessments, police arrested the 27-year-old woman driver of the Nissan SUV on suspicion of DUI.

Following the crash, crews shut down the areas surrounding the crash to perform preliminary and cleanup duties.

At this time, the identities of those involved in the crash remain undisclosed to the public. Local authorities are encouraging individuals with additional information about the Highway 50 head-on collision to come forward as soon as possible.
