Fiery Semi-Truck Collision on Valley Avenue Leaves Motorcyclist Dead

PUYALLUP, WA (September 22, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, a rider was killed following a semi-truck collision on Valley Avenue Northwest.

The incident happened on September 17th, around 3:00 a.m., in the 900 block of the avenue. The accident involved a semi-truck and a 34-year-old motorcyclist.

According to the Puyallup Police, Central Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and found the semi-truck engulfed in flames.

Upon investigation, the authorities learned that the rider was traveling at high speeds when he crashed into the semi. The impact of the collision caused the rider to be ejected from his vehicle. Officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash. Authorities identified speed and reckless driving as the factors of the incident.

Additionally, some powerlines were burned as a result of the crash resulting in a loss of power to the surrounding areas. Firefighters worked to quickly put out the fire and restore power to the neighborhood.

Following the crash, road crews blocked the areas of the road surrounding the crash while they performed cleanup and preliminary duties.
