Sedan Versus Pedestrian Collision Near Harrison Street Left One Person Dead
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 14, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a man was declared dead following a pedestrian crash on Highway 119.
The deadly collision happened on September 9th, at around 2:31 a.m. along Taft 119 Highway approaching Harrison Street.
According to CHP, a man was reported to be walking along the middle of the westbound traffic lanes for unknown reasons.
Investigators said a 60-year-old driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Impala attempted to avoid the pedestrian but was unsuccessful. As a result, the westbound Impala hit the man with its front end, leaving him with fatal injuries.
Unfortunately, the first responders declared the 34-year-old man from Taft dead at the scene. The coroner’s office will release the deceased pedestrian’s name once the next of kin has been notified.
The Impala driver remains uninjured in the incident.
