Two Suspects Arrested after Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision on West Wetmore Road
TUCSON, AZ (August 16, 2023) – Late Monday night, Isaac Benitez was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on North La Cholla Boulevard.
Around 10:40 p.m., police responded to the scene near West Wetmore Road on July 24th.
Per reports, 18-year-old Anthony Duran got into an altercation with 17-year-old Benitez. Investigators say Duran sped off in a vehicle and dragged Benitez, causing life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics arrived and transported Benitez to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities located and arrested Duran and another suspect. Both Duran and the juvenile suspect were taken to Pima County Jail where they faced a charge of reckless manslaughter.
No other information was disclosed by deputies, and the crash is still under investigation.
