Two-Vehicle Collision on Fountain Avenue Left Several Injured

HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 14, 2023) – Tuesday night, several people sustained injuries following a wrong-way accident on 101 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol said the incident happened just before 9:30 p.m., near Fountain Avenue.

Authorities received calls regarding the incident, which was allegedly caused by a car heading southbound in the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway near the Fountain Avenue bridge.

Paramedics arrived and transported the victims to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released the number of victims and their identities.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time before it reopened.

Following preliminary investigations, alcohol and/or drug intoxication was a factor in the wrong-way crash on the 101 Freeway. Once available, more details will be provided.
