Jose Jesus Hernandez, David Lee Knox Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on US 95 [Mineral County, NV]
2 Killed, 1 Hospitalized after Three-Vehicle Collision near Mineral mile marker 39
MINERAL COUNTY, NV (July 31, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a three-vehicle crash on US 95 claimed the lives of Jose Jesus Hernandez and David Lee Knox.
The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. along US-95 and mile marker 39 on July 3rd.
According to reports, a white 2007 International tractor and trailer combination traveling southbound on US-95 struck the left rear of a gray 2004 Acura TSX traveling ahead of the tractor/trailer combination.
Authorities said the crash happened when the Acura TSX slowed and moved to the right side of the road, allowing an approaching ambulance with emergency equipment on to pass.
The second collision sent the Porsche onto the dirt area west of US-95.
First responders pronounced the driver of the combination, 72-year-old Jose Jesus Hernandez of El Paso dead at the scene.
Paramedics then took the Porsche driver, David Lee Knox, 70, of Garden Grove to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Acura, sustained injuries described as not life-threatening and received treatment at a nearby hospital.
Local police did not release any additional information at this time. However, the cause of the accident and the factors involved remain under investigation.
