Kenneth Brandenburg Killed in Bicycle Accident on State Route 206 [Mead, WA]
19-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck by Dump-Truck in Bicycle Collision near Market Street
MEAD, WA (July 28, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Kenneth Brandenburg was killed in a bicycle accident on State Route 206.
The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m., near Market Street on July 20th.
According to reports, Brandenburg was riding a bicycle east on SR 206 while the driver of a dump-truck was heading south in a private parking lot.
The cyclist then struck the dump-truck on its passenger side as it entered the highway from the private driveway. Upon impact, the driver of the dump-truck fled the scene but returned later that day.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 19-year-old Brandenburg, of Davenport Washington dead. Investigators say he graduated from Davenport High School a month prior to the incident.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
