One Dead after Big Rig Accident on Highway 99 near Franklin Road
MERCED COUNTY, CA (July 21, 2023) – Thursday morning, a big rig accident on Highway 99 claimed the life of a woman.
The incident happened on July 20th, at around 10:30 a.m., along Highway 99, near Franklin Road.
According to reports, a big rig was traveling in the area when it lost an axel. The axle bounced over a road divide and struck a 2017 Nissan Frontier pickup truck. The impact of the collision seriously injured the driver of the pickup, a 58-year-old woman.
Emergency crews arrived shortly after and performed life-saving measures. However, the woman’s injuries were too severe. Officials pronounced the 58-year-old woman from Avenal dead at the scene.
