Two Adults and Two Children Hurt in Street Race Accident near L Street
TACOMA, WA (July 17, 2023) – Friday morning, two adults and two children were injured in a street racing collision on Interstate 5.
Police responded to the scene just before 8:30 a.m., near the McKinley and L Street overpasses.
Investigators say the 18-year-old driver of a vehicle was racing with a white BMW. The teen driver then crashed into a pickup-truck that was occupied by two adults, a 1-month-old infant and a 3-year-old.
Upon impact, the BMW overturned several times. Emergency crews arrived and transported all four occupants who were properly restrained to a nearby hospital where a man was suffering from serious injuries.
Meanwhile, officers arrested the driver that caused the collision and charged him with suspicion of vehicular assault. In addition, police are still looking for the driver of the white BMW.
