Man Dies in Bicycle Accident on North Stone Avenue [Tucson, AZ]
69-Year-Old Cyclist Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near East Helen Street
TUCSON, AZ (July 17, 2023) – Late Wednesday night, one man was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on North Stone Avenue.
Authorities responded to the scene around 11:00 p.m., at the 1200 block of North Stone Avenue near East Helen Street on June 28th.
Per reports, a cyclist veered off the southbound lanes and into the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry. As a result, the bicycle and the vehicle collided.
Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Officers say he was not driving under the influence.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released his name or place of residency.
Following preliminary duties, officers suspect that unsafe movement by the cyclist was a factor of the incident. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
