Head-On Collision Near Burbank Boulevard Left 2 Dead and 4 Injured
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 3, 2023) – Thursday evening, Yeshua Cordova Tobar and an elderly woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Woodley Avenue.
The deadly collision happened around 9:35 p.m. along north Woodley Avenue, north of Burbank Boulevard in Van Nuys.
According to the police, a northbound white 2014 Honda Accord on Woodley Avenue veered into the opposing lane. As a result, the Honda crashed head-on with a gray 2020 Honda Civic traveling south.
The incident left both vehicles with significant damage.
Tragically, the 60-year-old female passenger in the backseat of the Civic died at the scene. A young boy from the same vehicle succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a hospital. Meanwhile, the remaining occupants – a man in his 30s and a 27-year-old woman– received minor injuries.
Authorities later identified the deceased child as 5-year-old Yeshua Cordova Tobar of Los Angeles.
Reports also indicated that the male Honnda Accord driver remained in the hospital in critical condition. His passenger, a woman in her 30s, sustained minor injuries.
At this time, the Valley Traffic detectives are leading the investigation. Los Angeles Officials are asking anyone with additional information about the fatal incident to contact them at 818-644-8033 or 877-LAPD-247.
