Hit-and-Run Driver Injures Woman in Motorized Wheelchair near Sixth Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 30, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a hit-and-run driver injured an elderly woman in a motorized wheelchair on University Avenue.
The collision occurred around 4:51 p.m. at University and Sixth Avenue in the neighborhood of Hillcrest.
According to the police, the woman was riding her motorized wheelchair eastbound on the south side of University Avenue. However, a truck making a right turn onto southbound Sixth hit the woman crossing on the marked crosswalk.
Police said the driver did not render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene. Eventually, responding paramedics transported the 82-year-old woman to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
