Driver Wanted after Hit-and-Run Crash in Oakland Intersection
OAKLAND, CA (July 12, 2023) – Friday evening, a hit-and-run accident on Foothill Boulevard claimed the life of Santu Maya.
The incident took place on June 16th, shortly after 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Vicksburg Avenue.
According to reports, two blocks south of Horace Mann Elementary School a vehicle struck Maya as she was walking in the area.
According to witnesses, the collision was caused by an illegal street race. However, the driver did not stop and render aid to the victim. They instead fled the scene.
Eventually, responding officers arrived and transported Maya to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Later, at the hospital, officials pronounced 58-year-old Santu Maya, of Oakland, dead due to the extent of her condition.
