Four-Vehicle Crash in Sutter County Kills 21-Year-Old Gridley Woman and 1-Year-Old Child
LIVE OAK, CA (June 13, 2023) – Friday evening, a head-on crash in Sutter County claimed the lives of Allyson Nohelia Navarro-Salazar and a 1-year-old child.
According to the investigators, the collision happened around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 99 and Paseo Road, near the city of Live Oak.
The CHP Yuba-Sutter division claimed that a hit-and-run suspect fled a scene of a prior accident and continued southbound on Highway 99. Investigators said the suspect then crossed the solid double-yellow lines and bumped into a second vehicle.
Subsequently, the suspect collided head-on with a third vehicle going northbound, leading a fourth vehicle to hit the rear of the third vehicle.
Police said the driver of the third vehicle, 21-year-old Allyson Nohelia Navarro-Salazar, and her 1-year-old child passenger died at the scene. Her 23-year-old male passenger from Gridley was hospitalized for serious injuries.
The collision also left the suspect with moderate injuries and the fourth driver with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.
At this time, the California Highway Patrol is suspecting drugs and alcohol to be the factor in the crash.
