Javier Calderon Casas Killed in Work Accident on Glenoaks Boulevard [Los Angeles, CA]
Construction-Related Incident Near 118 Freeway Kills 49-Year-Old Male Worker
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 13, 2023) – Wednesday morning, Javier Calderon Casas was killed and two others were hospitalized following a work accident on Glenoaks Boulevard.
Fire units responded to the incident around 8:50 a.m. at 100500 Glenoaks Boulevard, near Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Pacoima.
According to Los Angeles Fire Department, a cinder block wall collapsed and trapped one of the workers underneath.
The Urban Search and Rescue Unit worked for at least an hour using hydraulic-powered tools to extricate the worker. Tragically, the trapped worker succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, two more patients, determined to be 42 and 45-year-olds, were rushed to a hospital for minor injuries.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the deceased worker as 49-year-old Javier Calderon Casas of San Bernardino.
The Los Angeles Police Department and Cal-OSHA continue to investigate the cause of the collapse. Officials will release additional information once made available to the public.
