Teenage Driver Apprehended Following a Hit-and-Run Collision That Left 2 Fatalitites
POMONA, CA (June 12, 2023) – Sunday night, authorities arrested Erik Elias Perez after a deadly hit-and-run car crash on Garey Avenue.
The incident took place along Garey Avenue north of Bonita Avenue at around 8:45 p.m. on May 28th.
According to reports, the event leading to the crash remains unknown, but they found an overturned SUV with three people trapped inside.
Responding rescuers extricated an adult female rear passenger and brought her to the hospital in critical condition. The driver and the front passenger did not survive and were declared dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s vehicle ended up colliding with a tree on the sidewalk. The suspect instantly fled the scene on foot.
An eyewitness attempted to catch the suspect, 18-year-old Erik Elias Perez, who escaped but was later caught and charged with vehicular manslaughter, grand theft, and hit-and-run resulting in death.
