Obed Barbosa-Carbajal Killed in Head-On Crash on Arlington Avenue [Riverside, CA]
4 Injured in High-Speed Collision near Stover Avenue Resulted
RIVERSIDE, CA (June 28, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a high-speed head-on crash at Arlington Avenue left 8-year-old Obed Barbosa-Carbajal dead and 4 others injured.
The accident took place on May 16th, at around 7:30 a.m., along Arlington Avenue and Stover Avenue.
According to reports, a driver in a white Honda Civic traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a gray Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound.
Inside the Sentra, paramedics discovered four people, three of whom were children. They transported all of them to a local hospital with moderate to severe injuries. Police believed they were siblings on their way to the school.
Officials later reported that the youngest victim, an 8-year-old boy named Obed Barbosa-Carbajal, had succumbed to his injuries.
While the remaining siblings, 25-year-old female driver Kially Barbosa-Carbajal, 16-year-old Mario Barbosa-Carbajal, and 10-year-old Kiara Barbosa-Carbajal remained at the hospitals with conditions unknown.
The Honda driver, a 22-year-old man also sustained injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
