Derek McIntosh and Ryan Noland Involved in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on State Route 299 [Humboldt County, CA]
Three-Vehicle Collision on Lord Ellis Summit Left Two Women Dead
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (April 25, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Derek McIntosh and Ryan Noland were involved in a deadly multi-vehicle collision on State Route 299.
Officers responded to the incident shortly after 12:30 p.m. along SR-299, west of Lord Ellis Summit between Blue Lake and Willow Creek.
Upon arrival, CHP Officers learned that an eastbound gray 2019 Hyundai Tucson collided head-on with a westbound Ford F-550.
Subsequently, the collision sent the Hyundai colliding with a Kenworth semi-truck trailer going eastbound.
The two women occupying the Hyundai, a 21-year-old driver and a 30-year-old passenger from McKinleyville, died at the scene. Their identity remains undisclosed pending notification from the next of kin.
Meanwhile, the Ford driver suffered minor injuries. He was later identified as 32-year-old Derek McIntosh.
The Kenworth semi-truck operator, 29-year-old Ryan Noland did not sustain injuries.
In the end, authorities closed Highway 299 for two hours as crews investigated the Highway 299 multi-vehicle crash.
Police said intoxication did not play a role in the incident. Humboldt County Officials will provide more information once available.
