Trayvon Ford Pronounced Dead after Police Chase Collision on Interstate 15 [Murrieta, CA]
22-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Pursuit Accident near California Oaks Road
MURRIETA, CA (April 24, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Trayvon Ford was pronounced dead after a police chase collision on Interstate 15.
Police responded to the scene around 4:40 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near California Oaks Road on April 15th.
According to reports, the driver of Jeep Compass was traveling on the freeway near Magnolia Avenue with no license plate. As a result, officers attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, the driver sped up and fled the scene.
Eventually, the Jeep was traveling at speeds around 127 mph when the driver failed to negotiate a turn on a curb. As a result, the Jeep rolled over and ejected Ford together with another passenger. The driver and another occupant fled the scene but they were later located.
Meanwhile, Ford and the other passenger were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center where Ford died an hour later.
Also, the other passenger was in critical condition and continued to receive treatment.
At this time, it was unknown if the driver and the passenger who fled were taken into custody. The crash is still an ongoing investigation.
