Ethan Boyes Pronounced Dead in Bicycle Accident on Arguello Boulevard [San Francisco, CA]
USA Cycling Champion Struck and Killed near Washington Boulevard
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 10, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a bicycle-auto collision in San Francisco claimed the life of elite bicyclist Ethan Boyes.
Authorities responded to the fatal incident around 4:00 p.m. on Arguello Boulevard, south of Washington Boulevard.
According to a witness, a speeding vehicle traveling north on Arguello swerved into the opposite lane and hit the cyclist.
Responding paramedics transported the cyclist to a hospital for life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, 44-year-old Ethan Boyes was pronounced dead a short time after.
Medical responders rushed the involved driver to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. It remains unclear whether the authorities arrested the driver, although they stated that they had detained the driver.
At this time, the United States Park Police continues to investigate the crash. A statement from the department claimed that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
