Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Wilmington Boulevard

WILMINGTON, CA (April 10, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway.

Authorities responded to the scene around 5:20 p.m., near Wilmington Boulevard on April 2nd.

Per reports, a man was walking north across Pacific Coast Highway within a marked crosswalk against a red light when the driver of a westbound Scion xB struck him.

Upon impact, the driver of the Scion stopped and assisted the severely injured man. However, a second vehicle that struck the victim immediately fled the scene. Officers only described the second vehicle as a dark-colored sedan.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medical personnel pronounced the 52-year-old man dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, the pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway is still under investigation and any witnesses are encouraged to call LAPD South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500.
